I hope to make this site a resource for weight loss, health and beauty. It is aimed in particular at postmenopausal women, but I hope that others will also find the content useful.
I am 60 and have had a battle with weight all my life. One thing I have learned is that no diet or system fits everyone. Not only that, but as our lives change, systems that have worked in the past might become less suitable or less desirable.
I will therefore cover various approaches without being prescriptive. If something interests you, try it. If it does not work for you, try something else.
My educational and professional background is an academic one, specialising in the medical and biological sciences as well as in library and information studies. Some of my posts will therefore be looking at evidence published in medical and scientific journals that supports or contradicts the various solutions on offer.
Recipes that can be used as part of a diet or weight control strategy will also feature, as will different types of exercise.
I hope that this site will grow into a useful source of information and that you will come back to it many times! f there is something you want to say about existing content, or if there is a topic that particularly interests you and you would like to see something about it here, or please let me know. Due to an unfortunate oversight, this web site was lost and is now being restored. In its first life, it was plagued with hundreds of spam comments, mainly generated automatically by bots, which managed to get round the captcha controls I had set up. I wasn’t happy about using captchas anyway. They can be so difficult and often make me cry with frustration.
For this reason, I have decided to disable comments on the site and am using the contact form instead.
